we left sarande on monday morning. we decided to stop in porto palermo to see old submarine bunkers. it was however not possible to get close to the bunkers as this is a military area. we could only take pics from far. we then tried to hitchhike to vlore which was difficult - there were only a few cars passing. we found a cab which took us all the way to tirana for 2000 lek which was a great deal. we stayed in tirana for 2 nights. we saw the main square, gw bush street, mother teresa square, the fake lake of tirana and we also went to the top of the dajti mountain (700lek) where we had a nice view over the entire city. we saw the main points of interest and today we are off to either montenegro or kosovo - we havent decided yet. albania is great so far. it's super safe and everyone is very friendly. more than half of the cars on streets are mercedes ;-)

we went to see the blue eye which is a water spring which is around 50m deep. the water is around 10 degrees cold. the place is worth a visit. there is daily buses from Sarande that take you to the place - though it is necessary to walk the last 2km. we spent the whole day there and even rented a paddle boat. we hitchhiked back to Sarande which was very easy. we then went to Mira - a restaurant outside of the city center where we had fish. tomorrow we are off to Tirana>
arrived in albania today. we took a ferry from kerkira to sarande. hotels here cost around 15-20 euros a night for two people which is very descent. people are very friendly and half of the cars on the streets are mercedes ;-) we also went to the city of Ksamil today where we rented a paddle boat.
