Malta in summary:
beautiful Mediterranean island, Influenced by the English with a horrible public transportation. I love it here. :-) I have been meaning to go to Malta for a while now. I paid 22E for my flight from Oslo to get to Luqa. That was my cheapest ticket I ever bought given the distance travelled. Thank you RyanAir and my apologies environment. Upon arrival all building seem to be of the same color - yellowish and orangish colour which looks boring The island is actually composed of three islands. Malta is tiny but it takes for ever to get to places using the public transpiration. There is usually one bus per hour and often they are late or never show up. If you miss your bus you then have to wait another hour for the second one to come. It happened to us a few times. Once we ended up stranded in the middle of nowhere trying to hitch a ride back home. But the adventure doesn't begin until something goes wrong :-) We had a great time. I met wonderful people: Croatian, Italian, Chinese, Polish, Israeli, English and Canadian We saw the most important POI’s. The most impressive one was the Golden bay where we went for a hike. We did a bit of climbing to get to the top and it was worth it. We were just on time for the sunset which was beautiful. Food is cheap. Hostels are cheap. It is off season now so there is fewer tourists which allows you to truly explore the island and get to know it better. I made a few good friends including my Italian/Chinese friend with whom i did a lot of sight seeing. We also met a few Canadians on the way with whom we hung out at the Strawberry festival and went hiking. I usually slept only a few hours a night and I am now sleep deprived but i dont care haha I managed to go out too fI went to a few bars and met some locals. They are easy going people and it didn't take long for us to hit it off. We didn't really plan that much. Usually it was a series of coincidences that happened to us that brought us together. It was random sometimes but it always worked and we always had a good time. What I enjoyed most was not the places I saw but the people i was with when seeing these places. I was very lucky to come across them. It was thanks to them that I had such a good time there. I am thankful to them for that. I also met up with my high school friend who I haven't seen in 7 years. It was awesome to catch up :-) I am off to Cyprus now. Will travel to Paphos for one night to get to see the city. I found couches for all my nights there which is really cool. Stay tuned and check out some of the pics from my Malta posts :).

![]() I have a small chocolate addiction. I can eat it everyday. my favorite one is kinder chocolate. it is also chocolate that makes me think of traveling. Im talking about Toblerone. I remember the times when the big Toblerone bars were available only at airports in free duty stores and ever since then I have always associated Toblerone with travelling. I always buy one or two as gifts for friends and they seem to appreciate it. Traveling isn't as easy as people might think. As interesting as it might sound when you tell people about all the countries you visited and all the things you did there, it is often tiring. After a few weeks of travelling you start thinking about going home and finally having a good night sleep in your own bed. You always arrive in new places where you dont know anyone and anything. You have to figure out where to go, which bus to take and you have to be sure you dont miss your plane. There is some planning involved which i suck at to be honest. my motto is that when nothing is planned everything can happen Based on my experience people go backpacking for two main reasons. They have either ended a relationship or they hate the job they are doing. in either of the scenarios they seek distraction and new meaning in life. Going to new places give you distance and perspective. Often the problems that you face occupy all your mind and you forget about all other things. But when you leave your environment and force yourself out of your comfort zone by talking to random strangers or doing things you never did before you start to gain distance again. It gives you perspective and it makes you realize things you havent realized before. I admit this is what im doing myself now. There is also other people who can be seen as cocky and who consider themselves better only cu they travel. Others are lost in their life and as fascinating as their lives might seem, they often are not. I love traveling. i wanna see and do as much as i can. I constantly want to do new things. it makes my life better. i just talked to a French guy passionate about astronomy and secret societies. We talked about the possibility of the second star being present in our solar system and the influence it has on Earth. There is research to back it up too. I admire his passion and i wanna rediscover it in myself too. All these people touch our lives in a certain way. They help you grow as persons and enrich your life. That is why i wanna travel more and more and become an experienced traveller. |
